Jill Parker is an American belly dancer who is widely credited with helping to create and popularize the style of belly dance known as Tribal Fusion. Born in Alaska in 1968, Jill began her dance training in ballet and modern dance before discovering belly dance in the early 1990s.
In 1994, Jill founded the dance troupe Ultra Gypsy, which went on to become one of the most influential and innovative belly dance troupes in the world. With Ultra Gypsy, Jill began to experiment with blending traditional Middle Eastern dance with modern and Western influences, developing a style that would later become known as Tribal Fusion.
In addition to her work with Ultra Gypsy, Jill has also performed and collaborated with numerous other artists and troupes, and has taught workshops and classes around the world. She is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential belly dancers of her generation, and has helped to shape the direction of belly dance as an art form over the past several decades.
